1939 HILLMAN 14
The engine has been replaced with a Rover 3.5ltr V8 and Borg Warner 35 auto from a Rover P6B, rear end from a Commodore VL Turbo (3.45 LSD). The front suspension is from Rod Tech and was installed by Mark Dunn from Margin Engineering along with the installation of the engine, gearbox, rear axle, brakes and steering. The interior and exterior will be maintained as original with the exception of air conditioning and additional lighting. Wheels will be 16x7. With the installation of the IFS & Commodore rear end, the vehicle now has four wheel disc brakes compared to the original all mechanical - should stop well.
The mounting of the engine required fabrication of a cross member, while the gearbox uses the original cross member, no changes were required to the floor or firewall for the installation.
Currently minor rust is being removed from the rear beaver panel and where the running boards connect.

2009 - Most rust repairs now complete, under-body painted. Engine was run for the first time in twelve years, a little smoke at first due to oil being poured down each cylinder when stored but fine now. Awaiting exhaust system before any further testing.
